Commitment to DORA and Responsible Research Assessment

Science Research Publishers is a proud signatory of the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA). We strongly endorse its principles and are committed to fostering fair, transparent, and responsible evaluation of research outputs.

We recognize that journal-based metrics such as the Journal Impact Factor should not be used as proxies for the quality of individual research articles or to assess the contributions of individual researchers. Instead, we commit to:

  • Evaluating research on its own merits – focusing on methodological rigor, originality, and real-world relevance rather than journal-based indicators.

  • Encouraging diverse forms of scholarly contribution – including datasets, software, policy briefs, and applied research outputs.

  • Providing a platform for all robust research – including replication studies, negative or null results, and applied contributions.

  • Avoiding reliance on journal impact factor metrics in editorial decisions, reviewer guidelines, or author instructions.

  • Promoting awareness and dialogue among editors, reviewers, and authors about responsible research assessment practices.

We view responsible research assessment as a continuing process. Our editorial boards are actively working to strengthen these practices through internal training, updated reviewer guidelines, and regular assessment of our publication policies.

By aligning with DORA, Science Research Publishers reaffirms its mission to advance high-quality, accessible, and impactful scholarship across all disciplines.
