Aim and Scope

Journal of Soil, Plant and Environment (ISSN: 2957-9082) is an international journal dedicated to advancing agriculture worldwide. This journal aims to provide a platform for scientists, students, academics, and engineers to promote, share, and discuss emerging issues and developments in various areas of agricultural sciences. All manuscripts must be prepared in English and are subject to a rigorous and fair peer-review process.

The scope includes, but is not limited to, research on soil-plant interactions, experimental biology, agronomy, forest ecology, natural resources, the impact of pollutants and contaminants on soil health, plant response to various stress conditions, microplastics and their effects on soil ecology, pharmaceutical residues in agricultural ecosystems, sustainable crop production, growth and productivity, breeding and seed production, soil microbes, and the interactions between soil and the environment from the perspective of sustainable development.

We encourage contributions that explore innovative approaches to enhance agricultural sustainability and productivity.

Types of Contributions

The Journal of Soil, Plant and Environment publishes the following categories of contributions:

  • Original Articles: Present novel findings that advance current knowledge on specific research topics. See the Scope for applicable areas.
  • Review Articles: Comprehensive reviews of the literature. Invited reviews may have publication fees waived.
  • Short Communications: Short articles presenting preliminary but significant results, innovative methods, or new technologies. Structured like research articles.
  • Opinions: Brief articles expressing the author’s viewpoint on a subject, technique, or recent findings. They emphasize strengths and weaknesses of the topic, and are shorter and more focused than reviews.
  • Perspectives: Usually invited, these highlight current developments and future directions in a field, with the author’s personal assessment.
  • Commentaries: Focused discussion on recently published articles. No abstract or separate sections; limited to 1 table/figure, 10 references, and 1500 words.
  • Letters to the Editor: Short discussions (≤300 words) on specific topics, published subject to editorial approval.

Peer Review Process

All submitted manuscripts, whether solicited or unsolicited, will undergo an initial evaluation by the Editor-in-Chief or an appointed Editor. During this preliminary review, plagiarism screening will be conducted. Submissions and their references will also be assessed to ensure adherence to the journal’s formatting and style guidelines. Manuscripts deemed unsuitable based on the journal's overall requirements will be returned to the authors. If deemed appropriate, the papers will proceed to a detailed review conducted by external reviewers. The review process follows a double-blind peer review process. Double-blind peer review means that reviewers are unaware of the authors' identity, and authors are also unaware of the identity of reviewers. Authors will be informed about the decision regarding their manuscript, which could include acceptance, required revisions, or rejection. In cases where a Reviewer or Editor suggests a detailed revision with the option for resubmission, this feedback will be communicated to the authors accordingly. More..

Originality and plagiarism

Plagiarism is not acceptable in JSPAE submissions. Plagiarized content will not be considered for publication. If plagiarism is identified, we will follow COPE guidelines. The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others, that this has been appropriately cited or quoted. More..

Publication Frequency

The JSPAE Journal will publish one volume each year. There will be two issues per volume, published on June 15th and December 15th. After the publication of an issue, all the new articles will be first added to the "Early Access" issue and thereafter to the next issue at the time of publication.
